The Rijksweg N65 (connection Tilburg-‘s-Hertogenbosch) is well-known for the characteristic plots with avenue trees, typical avenues leading to estates, nature and landscape elements. The old common oaks (Quercus robur) in the median strip, dating from the time of Napoleon, make the road particularly attractive.

In an innovative project in which tree growers, artists, BKKC (‘Brabants Kenniscentrum Kunst en Cultuur’ – Brabant Knowledge Centre Arts and Culture) and the county of North Brabant work together to make the road more attractive looking. The theme chosen for the project is ‘N65 as showcase’. The first actual result is the facade that has been placed next to the restaurant ”t Groene Woud’ in Vught (between Helvoirt and Vught). Here on a large facade the painting ‘the sower’ by van Gogh is depicted with the use of facade greenery.

A number of other projects with a ‘green realisation’ are at present being discussed with artists. Various innovative ideas have arisen from this that are being developed now.
