The schmittii can be recognized by its distinctive shiny brownish-red bark with horizontal stripes. Especially in autumn, this tree is at its most beautiful with bright yellow-orange leaves. This ornamental cherry also grows no taller than 10 feet and fits well in small gardens and narrow streets.
