Climate change is creating more extreme weather conditions. This may include less precipitation, longer periods of drought and higher temperatures. But also large amounts of precipitation in short periods of time and prolonged periods of rain.
In the city then, temperatures tend to be even higher and there is more pavement. The trees want to evaporate more due to the temperature, but that water is not always available in the soil due to the degree of paving and lack of precipitation.
Trees that can withstand these conditions include Pinus sylvestris (Scots pine) and Betula pendula (Rough birch). With the latter, it is worth noting that it does not tolerate hardening.
Examples of trees that can withstand dry and wet conditions, provide flowering and shade are Fraxinus pennsylanica (Soft Ash) and Phellodendron amurense (Amur cork tree).
It is impossible to describe a conclusive list of trees here. Per situation, there are always trees to select that may be suitable. We are happy to advise on this. Analyzing growth site conditions forms the basis. Together with the goal to be achieved, we can come up with a good selection. Therefore, contact us for advice and call 0411-621964.
