The ‘Riversii’ cultivar is a slow-growing tree with a rounded, open crown. The tree can reach a height of 25–30 meters with a crown 10–15 meters wide.
The Riversii is characterized by its glossy, deep black-brown leaves, which distinguish it from the Purpurea. These leaves retain their color well into the fall.
