Lagerstroemia indica I Multi-stem

Category:

We focus on Lagerstroemia indica in its shrub form. We also grow this cultivar as a tree.

During warm summers, this cultivar blooms profusely in August. The shrub or tree is native to Asia and is widely used in the Mediterranean region. In our climate, the shrub does need shelter, as it is sensitive to severe frost. However, in practice, frost damage is often not as bad as one might expect.

Another striking feature is its flaking bark, which is somewhat reminiscent of the bark of a Parrotia. In the nursery, the shrub also has many lichens on its trunk. Its somewhat erratic growth is another striking feature of this species. It’s a lovely shrub for enthusiasts to plant in a garden or park.
