Parrotia persica ‘Vanessa’ is a Dutch cultivar.Its main ornamental value is its spectacular fall coloring in red, yellow and purple hues. It takes several years for Parrotia persica ‘Vanessa’s to bloom. The flowers are about 2 cm and are bright red in color. The flowers appear on the bare wood, In full winter bloom the shrub is a special sight. Flowering is followed by approximately 1 cm large horned brown fruits.
