Prunus avium ‘Udense Spaanse’ is an old Dutch variety of cherry tree that blooms with white flowers in early May. After flowering, the delicious, sweet, yellow-red cherries develop—they have an excellent flavor and can be picked starting in mid-July for immediate consumption.The cherry tree can be pruned at two times of the year: after flowering and after the harvest. It’s best to prune after the harvest, when the weather is still somewhat warmer and drier, allowing the tree to recover well from the pruning wounds. Always treat the tree properly after pruning.
