Prunus x yedoensis ‘Shidare-yoshino’

Below, we’ll take a closer look at a weeping Japanese ornamental cherry tree, the Prunus x yedoensis ‘Shidare-yoshino’.

The trees are grafted at the top and reach a size that depends on the grafting height. The trees at our nursery are about 2 meters tall. They have a truly weeping form, so the branches grow downward in an arched manner. Because of the arched branch structure, you can also allow the tree to grow wider. By pruning back the branches, you can also keep the tree’s growth habit narrow. The tree has a fairly profuse, light pink bloom.

This tree is ideal for planting in gardens, on green belts, or in parks. It does not bear fruit and is well-suited as an arbor tree. The Japanese ornamental cherry is not yet commonly used in gardens or public spaces.
