The large hydrangea is a deciduous shrub and can reach a height of 1-3 meters. The flowers are pink, red, purple, white or blue depending on the pH (acidity) of the soil. In acid soils the flowers turn blue, in alkaline soils pink and in pH-neutral soils purple.White varieties do not change color.The large hydrangea grows best in loose, rich, wet, but well-drained soils in partial shade. The plant blooms from July to October.
